Engineer leaves office and graduates. Michele Arnoldi: “I sell ice cream on the cart”
Michele Arnoldi, a 33-year-old civil engineer, closed his VAT number and left his profession to sell ice cream. “I was tired of working in the office from Monday to Friday, I couldn't stand it anymore – he told Il Giorno –. I like being outdoors and dealing with people, I needed a break.”
In April 2023 he ended the collaboration he had with a professional studio and took over one of the tourist kiosks that open in Dervio in the summer. “To pay for my studies I have always worked in bars and restaurants and I have always liked it. However, the kiosk is a business that can only remain open during the three summer months”, he underlines to Il Giorno.
This is why he decided to build an ice cream cart to travel around in the other months of the year too or at least starting in spring. “I completed all the bureaucratic procedures and managed to obtain the street vendor's license – continues Michele in the interview with Il Giorno –. Together with my father I built the cart. We took a pedal-assisted bike, modified it and we created a battery-powered refrigerated cart, like those of the past.”
Not only that: Michele is thinking about the future as an ice cream producer and owner of an ice cream shop.
