While many of Elon Musk’s announcements have been controversial, at least one of them was well received, and that is that Twitter will share profits with creators affiliated with Twitter Blue.
Musk himself made the respective announcement on his account on this social network, @elonmusk, on February 3. he first said ‘starting today, Twitter will share ad revenue with creators for ads that appear in their reply threads’.
The aforementioned was accompanied by another message, which says ‘to be eligible, account must be owned by a Twitter Blue Verified subscriber’. The move received praise from influencers and representatives of the press.
We recommend: If Twitter leaves Google and Apple, Elon Musk would launch his own phone.
But it still raised doubts. Luke A. Renner, influencer and youtuber, raised something interesting. He asked what happens if an account that was already verified before with Twitter Blue later gets registered with Blue and then decides to unsubscribe.
So, Renner asked ‘does that account keep its previous verified status?’and made it clear that such a situation could scare old verified accounts from taking the step of going Blue.
Elon Musk’s response to this situation on Twitter was ‘unfortunately Twitter’s ‘legacy’ Blue Verified is pretty damaged so it will be gone in a few months’. So accounts that don’t pay will lose their certification.
How much does it cost to be Twitter Blue?
Some may be wondering how much it costs to have a verified Twitter Blue account under Elon Musk’s administration. The fact is that this verification has different prices.
The basic one is $8 dollars (MX$151.74) per month and $84 (MX$1 thousand 593.28) per year. But that rate is on Android, since on iOS it is $11 dollars (MX$208.64) per month. These rates vary according to each country and their respective national currency.
At the moment the new verified accounts subscription only applies to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the UK, but there are plans to expand it.
One thing to note is that newly created Twitter accounts cannot subscribe to this version of the service; They have a 90-day waiting period. For more details about how these types of accounts work there is One page online help.
