Codacons ready to warn the municipality of Milan if Giuseppe Sala does not adapt the safety regulations to those introduced by the mayor of Novara
Helmet mandatory for all, e no longer just for minors: the mayor of Novara signed a safety ordinance of the circulation of scooters, which are also becoming particularly numerous in the second city of Piedmont.
The ordinance provides for “theobligation to wear a suitable protective helmet, already in force and mandatory for minors under 18, to all users, even of legal age, of mainly electric propulsion scooters circulating on the roads throughout the territory “.
They are then established more restrictive speed limits compared to those in force in the national law: in Novara the maximum limit on the carriageway or cycle path will be 20 km / h and not 25 as required by the national regulations, while in the pedestrian area and the Ztl the limit drops to 6 kilometers per hour.
In these areas, however, which in Novara coincide with the historic center, the ordinance introduces the driving ban for scooters on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 2 pm to 8 pm Fine of up to 500 euros for those who violate the rules. In Novara, among other things, a “free floating sharing” service is about to start with electric scooters, which obviously will have to comply with the same rules as private vehicles.
The president of Codacons, Marco Donzelli, declares that “the provision of the mayor of Novara must be taken as example from other municipalities, by virtue of the increase in road accidents caused by the circulation of scooters. AND incomprehensible how the municipality of Milan is not issuing the necessary measures. We will send a warns both the mayor and the councilor for mobility“
