Juarez City.- Starting this Sunday, the State Electoral Tribunal (TEE) will receive the first nonconformity trials that were filed in the State Electoral Institute (IEE) and that until yesterday there were 106 procedures in several municipalities of the state.
In the case of Juárez and Chihuahua, there could still be more challenges as the deadline for submitting appeals did not end this weekend, after being the last to conclude the counting of their local elections.
For this border, only four appeals have been processed in local districts 02, 06 and 08, in addition to the challenge presented in the four district meetings, but for the federal election by National Action (PAN). Meanwhile, the City Council election and the Sindicatura election do not have challenges presented by the political parties or their candidates.
“What the people who filed them request most is the annulment of the vote received in one or more polling stations, either due to the integration of the polling station’s board of directors, or due to the irregular counting of some votes. In some cases they request the total count because they consider that it falls within the assumption of a 1 percent difference between first and second place,” explained the president advisor of the IEE, Yanko Durán Prieto.
The president of the Court, for her part, Roxana García Moreno, explained that political actors present their challenges to the Institute and every 48 hours said body presents a report notifying the workload they will have in this regard.
Various political forces have pointed out irregularities in the elections of municipalities, districts and councils, such as theft of ballot boxes and electoral packages, loss of chain of custody, improper votes, inflation of ballot boxes, arithmetic inconsistencies in the filling out of minutes, among other incidents.
Some municipalities that have contested mayoral elections are Guadalupe and Calvo, Parral and Ocampo, but there are districts with closed votes, such as 1 of Nuevo Casas Grandes.
The court council, composed of judges Roxana Díaz, Hugo Molina, and acting judge Gabriel Sepúlveda, will resolve the trials and will also address issues such as the formation of the State Congress, a matter to be resolved until August.
