Mexico.- Year after year, the National Electoral Institute (INE) makes its greatest efforts so that the majority of voters in Mexico can exercise their right to vote, which is why it installs what are known as special boxes.
The next Sunday June 5 6 states of the Mexican Republic (Durango, Tamaulipas, Quintana Roo, Hidalgo, Oaxaca and Aguascalientes) will have state elections where they will have to choose who will be their next governors. In addition, in some cases, citizens will elect their local Congress and City Councils.
In this context, the National Electoral Institute, with the aim that no one is deprived of democratically electing their governors and legislative representatives, has announced that a total of 131 special slots.
What are the special boxes?
They are known as special boxes to those ballot boxes that are installed in central places and where a large number of people usually passthis has the purpose that, regardless of whether they are far from their district or if the working hours do not suit them, they can go to them and cast their vote.
As has happened in other electoral processes, in the 2022 elections the special voting booths will be installed, among other places, in airports, supply centers, bus stations, shopping mallsamong other spaces with a greater attendance.
However, it should be noted that not all voters can vote in the special polling places. According to what was explained by Roberto Heycher Cardiel, executive director of Electoral Training and Civic Education of the INE, not in all cases the use of this type of ballot box applies.
Through a video posted on the official website of the federal electoral body, the official explained that, if during the state election day, the voter is outside your municipality, but within your federal entity, you will be able to vote for the renewal of the governorship. However, if there are municipal elections and the person is not within his municipality, he will not be able to exercise his right to vote.
Meanwhile, in the case of the federal deputy elections, special polling places can be used by voters who are out of state, but within the constituency. If this is the case, it can only be paid by proportional representation deputies (not relative majority).
