EISS experts discussed the effectiveness of measures introduced in Russia against COVID-19

Russia has not achieved sufficient rates of vaccination against coronavirus due to the fact that the measure is optional, the country is between Honduras and Romania in terms of mortality from COVID-19. This conclusion was reached on Wednesday, October 27, by experts from the Expert Institute for Social Research (EISS) during a round table on the effectiveness of measures taken against the pandemic.

Experts associate the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 with insufficiently high rates of vaccination. According to them, due to the free nature of vaccination in Russia, the maximums in the number of cases continue to be updated.

Experts drew attention to the fact that in the West, vaccination has already become actually compulsory. At the same time, many opponents of vaccinations in Western countries are themselves vaccinated, analysts said.

“The states have given very clear messages that as long as you citizens are not vaccinated, there will be no lifting of restrictions. If you want to go to a restaurant, if you want to go to work, if you want your children to go to school, go get vaccinated, comrade. “, – noted the head of the EISS Expert Council Gleb Kuznetsov.

On the eve of the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that compulsory vaccination against COVID-19 for certain categories of citizens was introduced in all regions of the country. She also stressed that the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 is now observed in 32 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

On the same day, Ancha Baranova, Chief Researcher of the Laboratory of Functional Genomics of the Medical and Genetic Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that the low rates of vaccination against coronavirus infection, as well as the high level of spread of the Delta strain in Russia, caused the collective immunity of Russians not formed.

On October 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the introduction of non-working days in the country from October 30 to November 7 with the preservation of wages. At the same time, the regions can, if necessary, introduce non-working days from October 23 and extend them after November 7.

A large-scale vaccination has been taking place in Russia since January. Citizens are vaccinated free of charge and voluntarily. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
