Yesterday morning, Egyptian embassies abroad began receiving voters to vote in the 2024 Egyptian presidential elections.
Elections are held abroad in 137 electoral headquarters in Egypt’s diplomatic and consular missions in 121 countries, and the voting process continues for three days. The Egyptian National Elections Authority confirmed that every Egyptian registered in the voter database and who is outside the country during the three days specified for the elections abroad, whether a resident or a short-term visitor, has the right to cast his vote in the electoral process.
The current President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the head of the “Wafd Party” Abdel-Sanad Yamama, the head of the “Republican People’s Party” Hazem Omar, and the head of the “Egyptian Democratic Party” Farid Zahran are running in the race.
Egyptians abroad will cast their votes over a period of three days, starting yesterday, while Egyptians inside the country will vote on the 10th, 11th and 12th of December.
The result is scheduled to be announced on December 18 if the elections are decided in the first round.
In the event of a runoff, elections will be held for Egyptians abroad on the 5th, 6th and 7th of next January, while elections for Egyptians inside will be held on the 8th, 9th and 10th of the same month, while the results will be announced on January 16, 2024.
Yesterday, Egyptian media showed footage showing Egyptians in Kuwait arriving with Egyptian flags at electoral committees to cast their votes in the elections.
Egyptian Ambassador and Chairman of the Electoral Commission in Kuwait, Osama Shaltout, confirmed that the turnout of Egyptians in Kuwait to vote has been increasing since voting opened at 9 a.m. local time.
He added in a statement to the Middle East News Agency that “many members of the Egyptian community in Kuwait accompany their children during voting to educate them about the importance of electoral participation in the elections.”
The National Elections Authority in Egypt, headed by Counselor Hazem Badawi, issued controls for the mechanism for Egyptians voting abroad, which are: “The voter must submit proof of his identity to the election committee outside Egypt, and proof of identity must be either through a valid national ID card or a valid passport with the number on it.” The nationalist.
The National Elections Authority preceded the voting process by announcing the controls of the electoral process, clarifying that participation will not be allowed for those who have not previously obtained a national ID card, and those under 18 years of age. As for those who are over the legal age and whose name is in the voter databases, they can vote in this case, if He had a passport that included the national number, provided that the passport was valid at the time of voting.
