Edu Villegas (Jerez de la Frontera, 49 years old) takes football very much to heart. He claims that he dedicates 24 hours a day to it. Since he was a player, even, since after each of his games defending the goal of one of the many teams in which he played, he was not afraid to watch three or four more games every weekend. He is passionate about a sport that, according to Villegas himself, allowed him to get to know the Region of Murcia.
«I lived in Murcia capital, Lorca and Águilas; For six years I played for Murcian teams and left many friends there. I carry Murcia in my heart, it gave me a lot,” confesses the sports director of a Ceuta team that will visit Enrique Roca on Sunday and that defended the colors of Cartagonova, Águilas, Abarán, Sangonera and Lorca that Santos Márquez ruled at the time.
Three intense years
Villegas had a long career as a soccer player, until he was over 40 years old. Then he left the playing field of Chapín, where he achieved four promotions as a goalkeeper, and began to command the technical secretariat of a Xerez team created by lifelong fans to whom he also promoted two categories from the office, from Preferential to Second Federation . But then Ceuta arrived, where in three years he has continued to add to his record.

Recent achievements
Two promotions: one with Xerez to 2nd RFEF and another with Ceuta to 1st RFEF.
At Alfonso Murube, he says, he has found an ideal place to work alongside Luhay Hamido, president of the entity with whom he feels a special 'feeling': “It is a very well structured club and with a president who is an example, a man very prepared football player and with whom I speak the same language,” he highlights. In his first year he achieved promotion to the First Federation with the North African team, although the real feat was achieved last season when after a first round in which he had only added 8 points, he achieved salvation in a brilliant second half in which his team scored 37 points. This season, Ceuta is the great candidate to take fifth place in the playoff.
A big family
«In Ceuta I have found a project in which I feel very loved, fulfilled and respected. I have power in every way. I don't set goals, just keep growing. In Ceuta I am happy and content, we are a family in which we all carry the club in our hearts,” says Villegas, who forms a great work team together with Hamido himself and José Juan Romero, the black and white coach.
For Villegas, his rival on Sunday “is a reference; I know the idiosyncrasy of the club and its fans. I faced Real Murcia in Second B. We know it will be a very complicated match, but we go with confidence and a winning mentality; “We are not going to speculate.” Rodri Ríos will not travel to Murcia due to a clause in his contract: «He is an extraordinary boy, affectionate and a good person. “I can't value what happened to him in Murcia,” he says.
