The Cantabrian Institute of Statistics (ICANE) will add several sociologists to its staff. To this end, the Ministry of Economy, Finance and European Funds will consider modifying the list of jobs, adding several that require the degree in Political Science and Sociology. Something that will also be extended to the rest of the Ministry.
This has been conveyed by the head of the area, Luis Ángel Agüeros, to the dean of the Professional College of Political Sciences and Sociology of Cantabria, Francisco Sierra, as reported this Monday by the Government of Cantabria in a press release. Agüeros has received the dean president of this recently established college, with whom he held a meeting as a presentation, and where a series of suggestions and claims that the counselor has considered “adequate” as “fair”and that therefore – he said – “they will be attended to.”
LINES OF ACTION
Among these suggestions, the possibility of a collaboration with ICANE lines of action which would be aimed at including new approaches in the collection and collection of data, with the aim of promoting its knowledge by the general public. On the international side, Agüeros and Sierra have also expressed their willingness to collaborate in improving the recruitment of European projects.
For its part, Sierra has valued the “change” of attitude of the Administration since the College’s appearance last June by recognizing the “talent” of its graduates, which in his opinion “will be reflected through the different jobs with the contribution of knowledge that will benefit all citizens,” he has affirmed.
Regarding the counselor’s willingness to collaborate in matters of Political Science and Sociology in international relations, Sierra has agreed on the “positive” nature of the measure, and in relation to ICANE, he recalled that “as a statistical instrument, our degree has he knowledge of how to interpret the matters handled by the Ministryand the contribution in that sense will be maximum,” he noted.
PROFESSIONAL COLLEGE
The Professional College of Political Science and Sociology of Cantabria began operating in June of this year and was created by segregation of the Delegation in Cantabria of the National College of Doctors and Graduates in Political Science and Sociology. Higher university graduates in Political Science, Sociology, International Relations and Management and Public Administration can belong to it. Among its purposes are to group and defend the professional interests of its members, the organization of the exercise of professions linked to Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, and the management of policies and public services.
The protection of consumers and users with respect to the professional services provided by members is also added to its purposes, without prejudice to the competence of the Public Administrations.
