The return to China
It was the 2019 when Formula E landed on Chinese soil for the last time in its history for the Sanya E-Prix, also regularly scheduled for the following season. However, the emergency of the Covid-19 pandemic made the cancellation of numerous races inevitable, starting with the one in China. A distance from this nation that will end this weekend not only with the return to this nation, which takes the place of the Jakarta E-Prix, but also with the first edition of theShanghai E-Prix.
Race on a permanent circuit
Formula E is increasingly entering the heart of this championship with the double header valid for appointments number 11 and 12both scheduled on the same permanent circuit hosting the Chinese Grands Prix in Formula 1. However, compared to the layout that accommodates the cars of the Circus, the electric single-seaters will tackle a smaller version of the track. In this case, the long straight of the third and final sector will be missing, with the exit of turn 9 leading to a shorter stretch towards the final area of the track. Specifically, the length of the track will be 3051 metres, with the activation of the attack mode present in turn 2.
The ranking and times
With six races to go until the end of the championship, Nick Cassidy appears as leader of the ranking, 16 points ahead of his direct pursuer Pascal Wehrlein thanks to the excellent results achieved in the last Berlin E-Prix, with the victory in Race 1 and the second place in Race 2. Consequently, the Shanghai E-Prix could allow the New Zealander to get closer to the most coveted objective for the last four races of the world championship or to call everything into question while waiting for the other two double-headers in Portland and London. Therefore, the next two tests in Shanghai should be followed carefully, with the three free practice sessions that can be followed on the official app of the series, on the official website of the latter and on the official YouTube and Facebook channels of Formula E. Different story for the qualifications, available on Discovery+ or on sportmediaset.it, with the latter which will broadcast the races together with Canale 20 or Eurosport 2.
