E-Prix Mexico City, PL2: Da Costa denies Lotterer ‘bis’ | FormulaPassion.it

In the second and final free practice session of the Mexico City E-Prix, André Lotterer once again imposed himself on the virtual front row on the eve of qualifying. However, contrary to the result achieved at the end of PL1, the German was this time classified in second position, behind Antonio Felix da Costa. The 30-year-old Portuguese of DS Techeetah has in fact recorded the best time of the tests, even with a gap of only 4 hundredths of a second from the Porsche driver. On the other hand, the two main protagonists of this start of the world championship are in difficulty, with Edoardo Mortara and Nyck De Vries respectively in 19th and 20th position.

As happened in the first session of the day, several drivers were still the architects of spinning or, above all, of setting errors in brakingespecially in Curve 1. Even during the qualifying simulation, which took place mainly in the final minutes, there were in fact numerous extensions in the escape route, which thus canceled the time of various competitors. In conclusion, the final position of Antonio Giovinazzi has not undergone any changes since the first session, with a 18th place which perfectly replicates what was obtained in PL1. With the conclusion of free practice, teams and drivers are now looking forward to qualificationswith the fight for pole position on the program from 18:40 Italian.
