Durango.- At least 5 people were arrested early this Sunday, June 5, being vote buying suspects in the municipality of Lerdo, Durango, hours before opening the polling stations in the entity.
This was reported by the Directorate of Public Security of Dull through a statement, detailing that the group of people was seen in the Lerdo square in a very suspicious manner, where upon seeing the presence of the security elements they tried to flee from the place.
Those now detained reportedly found cash and a list of people related to the electoral process this Sunday, June 5, the press release reported. Public Security Directorate.
The mayor of Lerdo, Alberto Escobedo-Reyes, confirmed the arrest of the 5 people, informed that they were found with cash and a list with electoral sections. The suspects are from the State of Mexico.
On the other hand, the Together We Make History coalition in Lerdo explained that the gubernatorial candidate arrived at the scene to prevent the arrest.
In addition, they condemn the repressive attitude of the Lerdo municipal police against the militants.
