Gameloft announced a new collaboration with Wizards of the Coast for the creation of a game Dungeons & Dragons coming up PC and consoledeveloped at the Montreal studios.
Set in the legendary Forgotten Realms, the tie-in will feature cooperative gameplay capable of mixing action RPG, survival and simulation mechanics and thus giving life to an epic adventure, full of challenges and dangers around every corner that we can face together with friends.
For the moment the details are few: the game does not yet have a name nor a release window or reference platforms, but the enthusiasm behind the project is tangible and the potential is undoubted.
The words of the producers
“We are honored to partner with Wizards of the Coast to create an entirely new experience in the Dungeons & Dragons universe,” said Lee Kaburis, executive producer at Gameloft Montreal. “We are all passionate about D&D and we are already working to bring our idea to life. As such, we are expanding our team and look forward to providing you with further details as soon as possible.”
“Making friends, whether around the table or not, is one of the fundamental pillars of Dungeons & Dragons. Our goal is to offer the same experience in a new genre, known for its emergent gameplay and the possibility of creating and sharing stories, to which Both inexperienced players and veterans of the pen and paper game will be able to participate” added Marc-Andre Deslongchamps, creative director of Gameloft Montreal.
“Our portfolio of intellectual properties, including Dungeons & Dragons, continues to attract collaborations; at the same time, we continue to expand our digital game catalog through licensing and internal development,” said Eugene Evans, senior vice president digital strategy and licensing from Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro.
“Our collaboration with Gameloft is a prime example of our strategy. Given Gameloft's ability to create incredible experiences with popular brands, combined with their passion for D&D and their vision for this game, we are confident that this game will make players happy of all the world.”
