Orders are open for the Italian market for DS 3 and DS 4 Hybrid, the two light hybrid versions of the French premium brand's models. Thanks to this type of electrification, the transalpine brand promises the possibility of proceeding in electric mode for over 50% of the time, with emissions below 130 g/km. As regards the new DS 3, three trim levels will be available: Bastille Business, Performance Line and Opera, with prices starting from 33,150 euros, 33,650 euros and 39,500 euros respectively. The DS 4 Hybrid is available in the Pallas versions for 37,000 euros, Étoile Alcantara for 41,800 euros and Étoile Pelle Nappa for 44,100 euros.
The DS hybrid
The hybrid system of the two DS Automobiles models consists of a 136 HP (100 kW) petrol engine combined with a new six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that integrates a 21 kW (28 HP) and 55 Nm electric motor A 0.9 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery powers the self-recharging electrical system. The permanent magnet synchronous electric motor is integrated into the new six-speed dual-clutch e-DCS6 gearbox. With 21 kW (28 hp) and a maximum torque of 55 Nm, it can operate on electric power alone at low speeds and with moderate loads. During deceleration, the electric motor works as a generator to recover kinetic energy and power the 0.9 kWh battery located under the floor. It should be underlined that all the components of the HYBRID system are placed under the bonnet or the floor and therefore do not affect the size and capacity of the luggage compartment which is the same as the petrol version.
The new DS 4 Hybrid trim levels
The new DS 4 Hybrid range for 2024 includes the new Pallas and Étoile trim levels, with the latter in turn available in the Étoile Alcantara and Étoile Nappa leather versions. The exterior is identical for both versions with DS WINGS, Gloss Black exhaust pipes and special 19-inch wheels. The customer can choose between four liveries: Pearl White, Crystal Grey, Platinum Gray and Pearl Black. In detail, the Pallas version features an interior in diamond tungsten fabric and seats and headrests upholstered in black DS canvas decorated with a new pattern. The comfort of the passenger compartment is guaranteed by the acoustically insulating laminated glass of the front side windows and by the Clean Cabin system with “Air Quality System” integrated into the automatic dual-zone climate control. The technological equipment is represented by Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Departure Warning and front and rear parking sensors with assisted reversing camera. The Étoile Alcantara offers a black Alcantara interior with new stitching, and the Étoile Pelle Nappa whose Criollo Brown Nappa leather upholstery resembles a watch strap, as well as being equipped with heated front seats. In common, the two versions have electrically controlled seats, the DS Iris infotainment system with DS Smart Touch and the Extended Head-up Display.
