From June 1 to 3, the Prohibition Law will be applied in Chihuahua due to election day which will be held between this Sunday, June 2. This was confirmed through the publication made this day in the Official State Newspaper.
The prohibition of sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages It aims to prevent disruption of public order, safeguard morality and public safety during federal and local elections. Given this, the authorities of the State of Chihuahua issued a series of provisions addressed to all licensees, permit holders and operators of establishments that sell, distribute or consume alcoholic beverages.
Among the measures is the suspension of alcoholic beverages based on the provisions of articles 300, paragraph 1 of the General Law of Electoral Institutions and Procedures; as well as 149, paragraph 3, of the Electoral Law of the State of Chihuahua.
Starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, the sale, consumption and supply of intoxicating beverages will be prohibited.. This restriction will be in force until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, June 3 of this year.
Whoever breaks the Prohibition Law will be subject to the corresponding sanctions, as established in the Alcohol Law of the State of Chihuahua. Punishments include fines, permit suspensions and other legal measures.
Regarding establishments where private social eventssuch as weddings, graduation parties, among others, may operate normally as long as entry to the general public is not allowed and adequate control of the consumption of intoxicating beverages can be guaranteed.
Liquor stores and other establishments that have authorization to sell alcoholic beverages as a complement to their main activity may operate during the aforementioned days, but will be required to suspend the sale and consumption of these substances while the prohibition remains in force.
With this measure, state authorities seek to guarantee safe and orderly environments during election day to avoid situations that could generate disturbances or compromise the safety of citizens.
