What will Alonso do?
Despite the 42 springs, Fernando Alonso he is one of the most sought-after drivers on the market ahead of the 2025 season. In fact, it is no mystery that in recent weeks he has been linked to Red Bull and Mercedes, in the event of a failed renewal with Aston Martin.
The two-time world champion on the track is pushing hard, despite the less than stellar performance of the AMR24 and has brought home so far 24 of his team's 33 points. And thanks to its performance, Aston Martin finds itself just one point behind Mercedes in the constructors' championship, fighting for fourth position.
What a shame for Mercedes
When asked by journalists at the end of the recent Japanese Grand Prix and after finishing ahead of the Mercedes for the third time out of four GPs, he was asked: “Will you call Toto Wolff tonight?“. Alonso's response was brilliant: “Well, they are behind us so it doesn't seem to be such an attractive destination,” he underlined to the microphones of Sky Sports.
It is no mystery that the Spanish champion also has theoption of a renewal with Aston Martin, determined more than ever to retain its star driver.
