The championship is back on
The 2024 Rally Italia Sardegna provided continuous twists and turns literally until the finish line, with Ott Tanak’s victory taken by the Estonian with an advantage of just 0.2 over Sebastien Ogier. The Frenchman, very close to what would have been his third consecutive victory, had to deal with a puncture a few kilometers from the end of the Power Stage, with his 6-second advantage vanished at the best of times. In this way, the Estonian from Hyundai not only achieved his first success of the season, but also shortened the gap that divides him from Thierry Neuville, still leader of the standings despite retiring at the end of the eighth test due to an off-road accident. The Belgian driver now has an advantage of 18 points on the aforementioned Tanak and on Evans, who now share joint second position. There is nothing new, however, in the world championship reserved for teams, with the Hyundai which resists the return of Toyota, 13 points behind while awaiting the next round in Poland from 27 to 30 June.
