The dramatic trail of blood that continues to plague the Italian roads during this hot summer season seems unstoppable. The latest, fatal, accident occurred during the night between August 1st and 2nd in Salento. Two friends aged 40 and 31 sadly paid the price, Mattia Saponaro And Joseph Vetrugnowho were victims of a serious road accident while returning from work on their motorbike scooter.

Another tragic accident occurred in the last few hours on the outskirts of Leveragein the province of Lecce, at the roundabout that leads to Porto Cesareo. The victims were two friends, Mattia Saponaro and Giuseppe Vetrugno, both originally from the municipality of St. Peter in Lama.
According to initial reports from local media, the two friends were returning from their shift working at a sweets truck at the event Beer and Sound. This is the international festival of beer and the art of brewing that is taking place right now in the Salento municipality.
It seems that the two men were on their way to buy cigarettes when, around 3:00 am, the fatal accident occurred. It occurred near the roundabout between the ring road and the entrance to Leverano. The two men apparently lost control of the scooter T-Max they were traveling on. The vehicle apparently went off the road and crashed into a flowerbed at the intersection. The resulting violent impact threw the two friends onto the asphalt.
Once the rescue services were alerted, they promptly arrived at the scene of the accident. However, attempts at resuscitation were in vain: the two men died instantly.
In addition to the paramedics, law enforcement officers also arrived at the scene of the accident to carry out the usual surveys and to secure the affected stretch of road. It will now be up to the Carabinieri to verify whether or not the two victims were wearing protective helmets and proceed with the exact reconstruction of the accident dynamics.
By order of the judicial authorities, the two bodies were transferred to the hospital mortuary “Vito Fazzi” from Lecce.
