Support to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is nothing short of extraordinary and it doesn’t want to stop in the slightest, for the happiness of the players who don’t even remotely want to abandon Conton City, an exclusive city designed specifically for the Dimps and Bandai Namco title.
Seven years after all is not a short time for a video game, credit that goes to the development team for making the formula always fresh and full of new content for players, including mouth-watering modes and rewards. Defining it as the most successful Dragon Ball video game of all time is not a risk to say: we are talking about over 10 million copies sold in all these years, given that it could even increase thanks to the arrival on the current generation consoles.
In fact, starting from May 24, 2024, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has unleashed its aura on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series: the Standard (available in boxes from GameStop at €20.98), the Deluxe Edition which includes, in addition to the game, some Super Packs with missions and characters, and the Special Edition which in addition offers us sets dedicated to the film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Some very rich packages which, even if they do not contain all the contents released in these long years, offer a noteworthy gaming offer. In addition to the additional missions, we refer in particular to the characters: we can mention Future Trunks, Frost, Black Goku (SS Rosé), Vegetto SS Blue and the protagonists of the latest film, including Gohan Beast and Orange Piccolo.
And just think for a moment how much Xenoverse is more than just a video game, an experience that brings such loving characters (even recent ones) closer to gamers and fans from all over the world. And to say that, and let’s be honest in this regard, we would never have expected such prolonged care and dedication to this title over time. After all, why create a new chapter of the saga when the starting point was more than excellent: with well-targeted packages, so much meat was put on the fire to make the mouths of those fans who have never abandoned this production. This move, and we say it without hesitation, is almost brilliant.
Some might say that the gameplay it’s a little dated and, probably, not up to this generation of consoles. We have to disagree: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is still a very enjoyable title, full of things to do and well optimized on PlayStation 5 (version we tested). Remaining in purely technical terms, or almost so, Xenoverse 2 offers a stable experience at 60FPS, clear and clean textures and significantly improved loading (even if not always very immediate).
Also, if you own the PS4 or Xbox One version, you can get it free of charge the updated version for current gen and the possibility of transferring the progress of the “old” console (here for all the details). Bandai Namco has always guaranteed a free update for its flagship titles, a move that we have always appreciated over all these years.
In any case, those who have already made a reputation in Conton City will be able, starting practically immediately, to launch themselves into the new DLC “Future Saga Chapter 1” which includes brand new extra missions in which Fu (main character of “Neverending Story”) will be involved in different narrative arcs. Furthermore, new characters will also be available which will significantly increase longevity.
For those who have only now embarked on the path of the Temporal Patroller, then the road ahead will be full of missions, heart-pounding combat and eccentric and powerful customizations. The character we are going to create, choosing from various races (we recommend the Saiyan at the first turning point), will be able to take part in story events, seasonal events, challenge missions and be trained by the most iconic characters of the extraordinary world created by Toriyama-sensei .
One of the additions that we liked over time was the addition of a game difficulty (i.e Easy) to the missions. If you struggle to face a boss, you can lower the difficulty and try to defeat it without too many worries: however, it will significantly influence the rewards.
Let’s not forget that though Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is at its best in multiplayer modes, especially in the Parallel Missions and Expert Missions Tours. In other words: all the players gathered in one room will be able to face one challenge after another together and obtain some succulent PT Medals, very useful for purchasing clothing items to improve attributes.
Talking to you about everything would be almost impossible, in recent years Goku and his companions have literally created sparks on practically all consoles. In any case, Returning to Conton City on PlayStation 5 was really enjoyableespecially because we had been missing for some time and we found her still in splendid shape.
Our advice, especially if you have never visited the worlds of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, is to give it a little thought especially because of a more than attractive price (€20.98). It could also be an excellent starter before taking to the field ZERO sparking!the sequel to that wonderful Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that fans have been waiting for for (too) long.
