The well-known journalist and leaker (not always very precise) Jeff Grubb returns to the office with new rumors. In a new video from the Game Mess series, Grubb reconfirmed some rumors he circulated a couple of months ago: Dragon Age Dreadwolf is coming within the year and, even more importantly, “everyone is happy of what has been achieved, now that the project is almost at its conclusion.
It is not clear who these “everyone” are, but we can assume that they are referring to BioWare (i.e. the developer) and others Electronic Arts (i.e. the publisher). According to Grubb, Dragon Age Dreadwolf would be arriving by the end of 2024. He specifies that we are talking about the year, not the fiscal year (in which case it would be by March 2025).
Grubb saidin translation: “Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which I already talked about, will be released this year. Will it be at the Summer Game Fest or around that time? Yes, they said so themselves at EA. However, it seems that the game will be released towards the end of the year, so where will they announce it if not at the Summer Game Fest?”
“They might do their own event, but I expect that – well, if they do their own event, I think it will be part of the Summer Game Fest orbit, so we should see the game at Summer Game Fest or around that time They should have all the details, why everyone seems very happy with that game; they’re pretty happy with how it turned out. The plan is to release the game this calendar year, so not in EA’s fiscal year, not before March 2025 or something like that, but this year. And I don’t think you’ll have to wait too long after the announcement to play it.”
This last part is also interesting: the idea of an announcement and a publication within a short time (a few months, let’s suppose) would be a breath of fresh air compared to the videogame standard (i.e. announcements that arrive several years before the release) .
Confirmations on Dragon Age Dreadwolf
We repeat that Grubb tends to share rumors with a certain levity, sometimes confusingly mixing their own speculations and sometimes relying on out-of-date information. We therefore recommend taking this information with a pinch of salt.
In the meantime, remember that in the past it was explained by Jason Schreier (a much more reliable source) that Dragon Age Dreadwolf it was born as a live service projectbut the success of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order had convinced the publisher that a completely single-player game could be successful.
In June 2022 the name of the game was confirmed and in October of the same year it was revealed that Dragon Age Dreadwolf was in Alpha state and completely playable from start to finish. Some rumors have suggested that there will not be the option to control all the characters in the party but that orders will be able to be given via a wheel menu. Furthermore, BioWare has confirmed that we will be able to see many more parts of Thedas than before, including Anderfels, Antiva, Rivain and more.
