DR Automobiles announced an industrial partnership with the Chinese Baic, aimed at the development and marketing of new models in Europe. Collaboration, in addition to existing models such as Age 5 and the X K2also concerns other products in the Baic range, with an exclusive agreement with DR for the Italian market.
New DR cars based on Baic
DR Automobiles is recording important results on the Italian market, also the result of consolidated industrial relations with the groups Chery and JAC over the last twenty years, developing various models for the range DR, EVO and Sportequipe. Thanks to this successful industrial model, the Italian group is now a privileged partner of the Chinese automotive industry, so much so that it has signed an important exclusive agreement with Baicwhich has chosen DR Automobiles as its sole contact for Europe.
Baic is a state-owned Chinese automotive company, among the top in terms of sales volumes in China, where it produces the brands' cars Arcfox, Beijing, Changhe, Foton Motor, Ruili Doda. The partnership already operational has led to the development of models such as the EVO 5 and the off-road vehicle X K2.
The agreement now extends to other products, with an exclusivity relationship for the entire European market, involving the design, development, production and marketing of new models. As part of the consolidated DR strategy, the cars imported from China undergo aesthetic and mechanical changes in Italy in the factory Isernia scrubwith the installation of accessories and the necessary approval to guarantee compliance with European regulations.
DR and BAIC exclusive agreement for Europe
As part of this exclusive relationship with DR, the Chinese giant Baic has clarified that it has no connection or partnership with CMC Srl – Cirelli Motor Company and that you have not authorized the promotion of Baic products under a different name. In fact, the Lombard company wanted to replicate the DR business in Italy, marketing 5 named models Cirelli 2, Cirelli 3, Cirelli 4, Cirelli 5 And Cirelli 6, of which two are based on Baic vehicles.
The Cirelli 2 is a 4.32 meter SUV with a 116 HP 1.5 turbo petrol engine. Mitsubishi origin, sold starting from 19,800 euros. There Cirelli 4 it is a medium SUV (4.62 meters long) which is in fact a modified version of the X55 II. However, the marketing of these models, as communicated by DR and BAIC, it would no longer be possible.
