The 2 ran for mayor in 2016. For the former toucan, the petista is being a voice of dialogue right now
Former governor of São Paulo João Doria said he praised the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), and said that he has been a “spokesperson” of understanding in the ministry. The 2 ran for mayor of São Paulo in 2016, and Doria won.
“They expected a minister rooted in statist, unionist policies, but that is not what Minister Fernando Haddad has demonstrated. He has been a spokesperson for understanding the relationship with the Central Bank. He has stood out for his good dialogue with Roberto Campos Neto“, he said.
The statement was symbolic because it took place at an event by Lide, a group of business leaders, held in London. Campos Neto, from the Central Bank, participated. He was charged by the President of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), for reducing interest rates.
Prior to that, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) had been pressuring the monetary authority in this regard. “As a businessman, and also at Lide, my view is that, in those 100 in which Minister Fernando Haddad was at the head of the Ministry of Finance, he achieved more positive results even than expected“, he stated.
In the past, Doria has antagonized the PT. During the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who also presented himself as an anti-PT, he had tough clashes, especially at the time of the pandemic. Today, he says that Lula has managed to rebuild Brazil’s image abroad. “Especially because of the policy related to the environment”, he said.
