XDefiant is the new free to play shooter from Ubisoft. One of the unexpected features of the game is that there is no “skill-based” version of matchmaking in the playlists for casual players (except an introductory playlist). In other words, it means that the game doesn’t try to pit you against strong players like you if you don’t play in ranked mode: you can meet both novices and seasoned shooter experts all together.
If playing in casual mode gives you the impression that every single time you only find high-level players, maybe it’s not because XDefiant works the wrong way, but maybe because you are really poor.
The words of the XDefiant executive producer
We know that’s a bit of an aggressive statement, but that’s basically what he confirmed the XDefiant executive producer, Mark Rubin. Better yet, a YouTuber who creates content on XDefiant made a comment that was confirmed by Rubin. You can see the message below and read the Italian translation just below.
“My favorite comments on XDefiant videos so far are “how do you find lobbies with such weak enemies?”. In a game without SBMM [ndr, matchmaking di tipo Skill-Based]if you never find weak enemies it is a sign that you have a wide margin for improvement and that’s a good thing in my eyes. When you work to improve, the results are much more rewarding because they reflect directly on your game performance over time.”
Rubin shared and replied the message. In short, if you play casual and everyone is stronger than you, it doesn’t mean that the game never finds weak people, but that you are the weakest among all and that you need to improve. However, this must be experienced in a positive way according to the manufacturer, given that any improvement will only be the result of your commitment and will therefore be rewarding.
XDefiant has 7.6 million players, so you’re unlikely to be the worst in the world (but someone has to be).
