Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov revealed a common mistake when taking painkillers. In the program “About the Most Important Thing” on the channel “Russia 1”, the release of which available on the “Look” platform, he said that in some cases such drugs need to be taken not once, but in a course.
The specialist gave the example of pain in the knee or elbow and called it wrong to take painkillers irregularly when the pain occurs frequently. “If you’re really in pain, you bursitis or something [подобное], you should drink them for five to seven days. You drink it for five to seven days because it’s not a painkiller. They are actually non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. They relieve inflammation,” Myasnikov explained. Moreover, according to the doctor, when taken once, such drugs act as painkillers.
However, such medications have a negative effect on the stomach, the doctor said. In this regard, he noted, they must be taken together with omeprazole or another drug that protects the stomach. “You just take not one pill, but two. One protects the stomach, the other [снимает воспаление]. And don’t exceed the dosage,” the doctor emphasized.
Earlier, Myasnikov said that taking painkillers can cause heart problems. In addition, he warned that frequent use of painkillers could lead to kidney problems.
