He Official State Gazette (BOE) publishes this Monday a call from the Ministry of Defense to fill 350 volunteer reservist positions in the Armed Forces. They are aimed at citizens who want voluntarily and temporarily contribute their capabilitiesskills and knowledge in the different missions they carry out the Armies and the Navy.
What does it mean to be a volunteer reservist?
If you are chosen, it means acquiring a link with the Armed Forces by signing a commitment that implies a certain activation time in Units, Centers or Organizations of the Ministry of Defense. The duration of these activation periods will depend on the needs of the Armed Forces.
Who can request it?
To be a volunteer reservist you must have Spanish nationality, be between 18 and 55 years old for troop positions and 58 for officer positions, have no criminal record or be immersed in any judicial procedure for an intentional crime, and not be deprived of rights. civilians and no longer be a member of the military, Civil Guard or National Police, member of the CNI or the Basque Country Police.
When and how is it requested?
An appointment must be requested through the Ministry of Defense website or in person at the Defense subdelegations of the province of residence of the applicant. The deadline to request an appointment begins on October 29 and ends on November 19, 2024.
What are the selective tests like?
They consist of a merit contest and a recognition of psychophysical aptitude to determine and verify the capacity and aptitude of the applicants. The medical examination includes, among other tests, a toxic detection test, a general physical examination, a psychological evaluation test and completion of the health questionnaire.
Finally, a personal interview will take place conducted by a military psychologist, in which the applicant will also be guided on those positions that, based on their preferences, best suit their personal and professional abilities.
What number of places have been announced to be a volunteer reservist?
In total, 350 places are offered in the categories of officer (226), non-commissioned officer (69) and troops and sailors (55). Of them, 148 are for the Army, 44 for the Navy, 50 for the Air and Space Army and 108 for the Common Corps.
What training is needed?
Once this phase has been completed, a period of Basic Military Training of between one and 30 days begins, which is followed by specific training that may have the same duration and will take place in the unit, center or organization to which the position obtained corresponds.
Afterwards, an initial three-year commitment is signed and they will acquire the status of volunteer reservists, with the jobs of Ensign or Frigate Lieutenant, Sergeant and Soldier or Sailor, depending on the category to which they have accessed.
