The Valley of Mexico faces a new day under the shadow of the environmental contingency in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
The Megalopolis Environmental Commission (CAM) announced at 10:00 a.m. the continuation of Phase I of atmospheric environmental contingency due to ozone in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM), a crucial measure to safeguard public health and reduce exposure to elevated levels of ozone.

In the midst of this situation, the population is urged to stay informed about air quality and avoid outdoor activities between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., when the concentration of pollutants reaches its maximum. The next report will be issued at 3:00 p.m., awaiting the cancellation of the environmental contingency.

The Mexico City Air Quality Monitoring System has indicated that the anticyclonic circulation will continue to affect the center of the country, maintaining a clear sky during the day due to the low humidity content in the associated air mass.
However, this atmospheric stability will also lead to unfavorable conditions for the dispersion of pollutants, resulting in air quality that will range from poor to very poor.

Restrictions on vehicular circulation in the Transportation Sector remain in force. Today, Friday, February 23, a variety of vehicles must remain off the streets between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m..

◆ Private vehicles with type 1 verification hologram whose last numerical digit is 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 0, as well as those whose license plate is made up only of letters

◆ Old, demonstration or transfer vehicles, new ones, those with a tourist pass, foreign plates or with plates formed by letters
◆ Vehicles with hologram “2”
◆ 50% of the LP gas distribution units to stationary tanks that do not have a dry disconnection valve, whose registration termination is PAR
◆ Local or federal cargo vehicles stop circulating between 6:00 and 10:00, with the exception of those that are in the CDMX or EDOMEX Self-Regulation Program.
Taxis with verification hologram “0”, “1” or “2” that must stop circulating in accordance with the provisions indicated in sections a), b), and c) will be subject to the 10 o'clock circulation restriction: 00 at 22:00 hours.
