He President López Obrador has been insistent on two issues theoretically dangerous but of impossible realization because it lacks meaning, an extremely senseless and scandalous one repeated yesterday and the day before: that they want to give it “a coup”.
Another, without any support but which is often reiterated, is: that will not seek re-election.
The “coup” – which today is called “technical” – was said, for example, when he promoted the popular consultation on the revocation of the mandate (which in reality was the search for its ratification), and the second reached such a degree that the factious Federal Undersecretary of Health, Hugo López-Gatellincluded among the “coup” imaginaries to the parents of children with cancer that to date have been denouncing the criminal shortage of medicines.
Because for more than 100 years the re-election of a president in Mexico is prohibited by the Constitution (the last president who was re-elected and did so five times was Porfirio Díaz), I asked who makes a personal and precise mark on the morningthe diligent Luis Estrada Straffon, general director of SPIN-Taller de Comunicación Política, the times he AMLO has said that will not be re-elected. His response amazed me: 231 in the 1,299 morning meetings that have been held (almost 20 percent of his conferences and soliloquies).
Article 83 of the Constitution that AMLO swore to save and have saved:
“He President He will begin his duties on the 1st. October and will last six years. The citizen who has held the office of President of the Republic, popularly elected, or as interim or substitute, or provisionally assumes ownership of the Federal Executive, in no case and for no reason will be able return to that position”.
If the ban is strict, no matter how popular it may be Lopez Obradorsaying that he does not intend to be re-elected suggests that he wants to give the impression that he is doing society a favor.
And also according to SPIN, with yesterday's mentions there are 167 times the mentions of the “coup d'état” that, strictly speaking, would require the support of the president's most trusted institution: the Army.
In four allusions to this improbability he added the word “technical”, while in another (March 2022) he said he sensed a “soft blow” from… the media!
The one he has referred to in recent days, he senses plotting in his hated Judicial Branch of the Federation at the hands of the Electoral Court in the qualification of the presidential election on June 2.
If it were not for distracting public attention from disaster of your security policy and the warnings inside and outside Mexico about the climate of violence in which the ongoing process takes place (yesterday the Morenista candidate for mayor of Chilapa was murdered, plus the twelve victims from different parties who were already there), the “re-election” and “the coup” smacks of fear before a vote of a very closed president and the loss, at least, of the government of the country's capital…
