Many players of Disney Speedstorm they are literally furious against some innovations introduced by Gameloft with season 7, so much so that he accused the publisher of “theft” and launched the idea of dragging him into a lawsuit.
Disney Speedstorm is a free-to-play racing game whose microtransactions, considered pay-to-win, had already caused discussion in the community. Basically, by paying it is possible to upgrade pilots much faster, with the obvious imbalances that this entails online.
That said, fans liked the content of the season dedicated to Wreck-It Ralph and they appreciated some changes to the gameplay, such as the simplification of the crafting system. However, the love lasted until the preview of some new features of Season 7, which is causing a real uproar in the community.
Lawsuits and accusations
The accusations that are made against Gameloft they are really strong and the idea also started launch a class action. For what reason? Apparently the news is positive, with the reduction of the requirements for the Golden Pass and the return of content from previous seasons in the Tournament mode, designed for single player. What is causing discussion is how everything is linked to new forms of monetization considered rapacious. For example, to be able to play the new mode without limits you will need to purchase the Vault Pass for $7.99, otherwise you will only be able to make four attempts. The Golden Pass has instead been divided into two parts, each of which costs $9.99. So, to unlock all the contents of season 7 you will need to spend at least $27.97. Gameloft justified this increase by stating that you will earn much more with Golden Passes.
Up to this point, however, everything would be normal, so to speak. What triggered the community's reactions is the fact that i Golden Pass they will no longer be purchasable with in-game currency. So either you spend real money, or no premium content. So all those who purchased the Founder Edition, which contained extra coins, or had saved, will not be able to use what they have for future Golden Passes, as allowed until today.
The result is that many felt cheated and raised their voices, further undermining a game which, however well made, is already struggling to establish itself.
