Digital learning for all: build a more fair and inclusive world thanks to technological volunteer

In an increasingly technological world, it is important to leave anyone behind, whether older people, inhabitants of rural, migrants, disabilities, SMEs or autonomous. Young people also, the educational community and families need support to function with confidence and security in a constantly changing digital environment.

Digital learning is essential when achieving a more just, innovative and participatory society. Technology is a key element to improve the lives of people and also of the communities in which they live, generating a positive impact on personal and professional development, but also on social inclusion.

The use of technology improves the quality of life, promotes innovation, creates culture and strengthens communities. Having digital skills allows to grow at a professional and personal level, but for this a constant, continuous and integral learning is needed, which allows knowledge to be incorporated effectively and take advantage of the opportunities of digital tools.

To achieve this, Cibervolutionary Foundation, a worldwide pioneer in technological volunteer, has been working to help people acquire the digital competences necessary for their day to day for free, close and practical.

Thanks to the support of a network of more than 4,500 cybervoluntary people and 5,000 collaborating entities between municipalities, educational centers and NGOs, it carries out an average of 500 free weekly training and awareness activities, 80 % of them in person. This work model, close, practical and simple, allows them to be next to people and respond to their real needs.

The great technological volunteer network

On March 19, the International Day of Digital Learning is celebrated, in which the Technological Volunteer Network of the Cibervolutionary Foundation takes on special relevance. The objective is to ensure that all people can access the knowledge and use of technology equally, to improve their opportunities for education, employment, expression and social participation.

In this network, each cybervoluntary person is an agent of change that shares their time and knowledge to bring technology closer to any person, and especially the most vulnerable. They accompany you to you, solve doubts and respond to the needs of each person; Because the digital tools that each person needs can be different. This selfless help is a motivating impulse for each individual to reach their maximum potential and appropriate technology, making it easy and accessible what in principle may seem complex, transforming lives at an economic, social and cultural level.

Digital learning for all ages

Learning and developing in the digital environment eliminates barriers, improves education, drives employment and entrepreneurship, connects territories, fights social and gender inequality, creates opportunities and facilitates the inclusion of the most vulnerable groups.

In the current work framework, the promotion of new ideas and technological solutions is also an engine in employment generation and opening to new opportunities in the digital market. However, in this context of rapid changes, so old people suffer a unique gap with respect to the new generations that have grown in technological spaces, so the Foundation carries out numerous workshops aimed at this age group.

But it is also possible to highlight the importance of digital learning in relation to the use of screens, the Internet and the different digital tools, from an early age, even before having a device. To do this, Cibervolutionary Foundation develops educational programs in digital competences and in the conscious, safe and positive use of technology. The objective of these activities, always free, is to encourage creativity, communication, and digital talent, in addition to promoting technological vocations and Steam talent, especially among girls.

And it is the youngest generation lives in a society in which there is no separate physical space from digital. Your reality digital It has its own codes and culture, and in this new environment an accompaniment is necessary that guides them towards a balanced, positive and responsible use. With this objective, Cibervolutionary Foundation develops programs such as Digital campfree face -to -face activities in digital competences from 9 to 17 years with Digcomp certificate, which accredits this knowledge in the European Union.

In this formation, within the Digital Competencies Program for Children (CODI), launched by the Ministry of Youth and Childhood, funded by the European Union-Next Generation, the contents are taught by specialized educators and are adapted to each age:

In exposure to the digital world, differentiating and creating a critical capacity is basic for boys and girls. Therefore, between 9 and 11, they learn to look for information on the Internet and to differentiate real news from a false, to create presentations or videos, be aware of their fingerprint and control their privacy on the web.

From 12 to 13 years, they learn to manage the time of exposure to screens in a balanced way. They know how to create safe passwords, protect your privacy, hunt fake news and know how to stop them, and know the rules so that the internet coexistence is more positive and respectful.

From 14 to 17, work is intended for the analysis of its online time, its image on the Internet and its privacy, knowing how to protect and detect possible fraud. They also know how to enhance their professional profile and their brand on the Internet and become familiar with employment platforms.

One year for digital education

A third of the population cannot integrate technology into their daily lives, which limits its ability to access employment opportunities, education, social entrepreneurship, participation or equality. According to the latest digital competencies report of the National Observatory of Technology and Society, 30% of the Spanish population still does not have basic digital competences, 43% in rural areas. This concern transfers borders, and that is why 2025 is the European year of Education for Citizenship, with the motto Learn, connect, commit, prosper together.

Cibervolutionary Foundation joins this initiative and calls public administrations, entities, educational centers, NGOs and citizenship in general to join the commitment for broad, continuous, critical and inclusive digital learning, and boost universal and free formation in digital competences to build a more just and equitable society.
