Mercedes-Benz has manipulated diesel emissions of some of his cars in Germany. This is what a German court claims, called to express its opinion in a collective lawsuit brought by consumers. In particular, it is a sentence of the Stuttgart Court of Appeal to judge the Stella group guilty of deceiving its customers: there is talk of violation of emissions regulations.
Manipulated diesel emissions
The class action lawsuit was filed by owners of the Mercedes models, Bloomberg reported GLC and GLK and actually dates back to three years ago: the protagonist of this legal action is the consumer group “Vzbv“, in which 2,500 applicants participated.
Individual compensation
Although the Stuttgart-based giant was found guilty, compensation to deceived consumers it won't be automatic: it will in fact be the responsibility of the motorists themselves to sue in an individual way against Mercedes-Benz to collect the money from the Star brand.
Mercedes doesn't fit
As expected, Mercedes-Benz was anything but happy with the ruling, which is why it has already made it known will appeal to turn the situation around and demonstrate that the company and its employees acted correctly. Let us remember that the lawsuit brought against the German giant had to do with both the standard 5 eurosintroduced in 2009, and with the new Euro 6which applies to cars produced since 2014: the judges accepted the case for models compliant with the second standard, but rejected the case for vehicles that comply with the first.
