Minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), underwent surgery this Saturday morning (20) to correct a direct inguinal hernia and an umbilical hernia, informed the Vila Nova Star Hospital, in São Paulo, where the incident occurred. the procedure.
The surgery, performed with robotic resources, was a success, according to a medical bulletin released by the hospital. The person responsible for the operation was doctor Antônio Luiz de Vasconcellos Macedo.
Toffoli remains hospitalized for post-surgical observation, with no expected discharge yet, according to the medical report.
At the moment, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) is in the midst of a judicial recess. The resumption of work is scheduled for February 1st. Until then, the President of the Court, Minister Luis Roberto Barroso, is in charge of cases considered urgent.
Minister Dias Toffoli is 56 years old and joined the Supreme Court in 2002, after being nominated by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He presided over the Court between 2018 and 2020, having been the youngest minister to have held the post.
