VR46 in Q2
Positive return to the track after the summer break for the team VR46who showed up at Silverstone revealing the special livery he will use in the race and which pays homage to the team’s founder Valentino Rossi. Both Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi they have in fact obtained direct access to Q2 for tomorrow’s qualifying, finishing the British Grand Prix practice sessions in sixth and ninth position respectively.
Tests not without problems
Top-10 thus successfully reached for Bezzecchi, despite some obstacles right at the start of the session for a technical problem which however had no consequences, as demonstrated by his best time of 1.58.506, sufficient for Q2: “A positive Friday, but with a dramatic backstory – explained #72 – a bit of everything happened, but we made it to Q2. I lost time, I wasn’t able to work well on the race pace, but I’m happy with the feeling while riding. Qualifying for Q2 was necessary, we don’t come from easy GPs. Tomorrow we’ll try to make up ground in terms of work and then understand which tyre to use for the race. I’m a fan of the hard always in front, but if the temperatures aren’t right it’s not the best option. I’m undecided between soft and medium, I need a few laps in series to understand better”.
Good, but not very good
Good performance also from his teammate Di Giannantonio, four tenths behind the fastest lap set by Jorge Martin and with the Roman rider who seems ever closer to renewing with VR46: “A good return, I’m happy even if we still lack a little something to be super fast like the first ones – he has declared – I’m pushing hard, the gaps are minimal, we’re all at the limit, but I’m happy with the work with the team. We’re consistent, the lap time is good and Q2 is still our goal for Friday. Let’s go back to the data and prepare ourselves as best as possible for tomorrow’s Sprint.”
