With The Lost Crown and the upcoming release of The Rogue Prince of Persia, everything seems to indicate that The Princes of Persia series is in good shape. However, there is still one project about which we constantly hear bad news, and it is the remake of The Sands of Time. Now, A new report has revealed that the development of this title has been restarted.
According to Insider Gaming, main development on The Sands of Time has restarted. In 2022, it was revealed that Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai abandoned the project, with the Montreal division taking the reins of the game, and building on the foundations that were already laid. Well, It has now been reported that all of this has been scrapped, and instead the studio has started work from scratch.
Although this remake was announced more than four years ago, with a promise to hit the market in January 2021, Insider Gaming assures that the material they have seen is incomplete, and the game is still several years away. For its part, Ubisoft has remained silent about this project, and it seems that it will remain that way for a long time.

Author's Note:
It's a real shame that the series is carrying this burden. It would be better to simply cancel the remake, and focus entirely on a new installment. Although if the sales of The Lost Crown are an indicator, it is likely that Ubisoft does not see merit in this change.
