According to a new report by Paul Tassi, Forbes journalist and great enthusiast of the subject in question, Destiny had to have one animated series from Netflixbut the production company then decided to delete the project.
There is talk of an agreement dating back to a few years ago, too before Sony's acquisition of Bungie: “I heard that a while ago there was an idea for a Netflix TV show about Destiny, probably an animated series,” Tassi explained, “but in the end it didn't find its final form.
I'm not sure where it got to, I think it was canceled in the script writing stage, but it was a long time ago, I think before the Sony acquisition,” he reported.
Therefore it would be a project dating back to a few years ago, but which had never clearly emerged previously and in any case will not find its effective application at this point.
A franchise led to adaptations in other media
However, Destiny remains a franchise that seems particularly led to operations of this typeand something like this will probably emerge in the near future, also given Bungie's moves in this regard.
Just last year, Bungie announced a deal with former Warner Bros. Discovery bigwig Gabriel VanHuss to explore trans-media adaptations of Destiny, which could include films, TV series, books, comics and other formats, so something like this will emerge in the future.
Even the fact that Bungie is now controlled by Sony could favor operations of this type, considering the push given by the company's film and television studios on the PlayStation front, so we await any developments on the issue.
