Chihuahua.- Representative Octavio Borunda, from the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico, attended the Forum “Political-Electoral Reform in Mexico: Advantages and Challenges” on behalf of the State Congress, with specialists from all over the country, where he called for a debate on an adjustment in relevant issues such as overrepresentation, affirmative action and citizen participation. The legislator pointed out the responsibility of the Congress of the State of Chihuahua to dictate laws, guided by democratic principles of discussion, that enrich the institutions. He recalled that Chihuahua has been at the forefront in electoral political issues, for example, the various sentences that motivated the “national reforms that helped create the Political Communication Model and its eventual sanction in case of non-compliance.” Present at the event were Cesar Wong Meraz as host of the event and President of the National Association of Electoral Law; Gilberto Loya Chávez, Secretary of Public Security of the State, representing the State Executive Branch; Gabriela Ruvalcaba, Director of the Electoral Judicial School of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation; Gerardo Macías Rodríguez, Electoral Counselor, of the State Electoral Institute; Presiding Judge of the State Electoral Tribunal, Roxana García, as well as university students and the general public.
