Demonstrations About 2,500 people showed their support for Ukraine at Helsinki’s Senate Square – a climate demonstration was also held on Saturday

The protest in support of Ukraine ended at the Senate Square at about 3 p.m., and the climate demonstration at about 5 p.m., according to police, both events went smoothly.

In Helsinki several demonstrations were held on Saturday. Police received a total of three separate reports of protests in support of Ukraine. In addition, people were gathered at the climate demonstration.

All three protests related to Ukraine began at about 1 pm in the center of Helsinki – on Mannerheiminaukio, Narinkkator and Lasipalatsi. However, the latter two joined the protest that soon began in Mannerheim Square, says the commissioner of the Helsinki Police Department. Jari Friman.

Participants left at about 1.30 pm to walk through Mannerheimintie and Aleksanterinkatu towards Senate Square.

Police told a message service on Twitter at about 2 pm that there were about 2,500 protesters in Senate Square.

At about 3 p.m., police said on Twitter that the demonstration in Senate Square was over. According to the police, the incident went smoothly.

Saturday A climate demonstration was also held in Helsinki in front of the Parliament House. Among other things, the protesters demand that Finland build a fossil-free welfare society in line with its promise. The climate demonstration began at about 2 p.m.

Shortly after 2.30pm, police estimated on Twitter that the Parliament House had about 1,000 people. Police announced the end of the protest shortly after 5pm and said the incident went smoothly.
