The entities organizing the second demonstration against the management of DANA have called on citizens to go out to the streets again massively in Valencia to “demand responsibilities” a month after the flood that left 222 dead, four missing and multimillion-dollar damage.
Schedule and route of the Valencia demonstration
The protest will start at 6:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and will end in the Plaza de la Virgen, after not being allowed to end in the Plaza de Manises – in front of the door of the Palau de la Generalitat – due to reports alleging security reasons. However, the presidential headquarters will not be fenced but will be monitored by security agents to prevent it from being vandalized again as happened in the first demonstration on November 9.
In this way, there will be traffic cuts and streets affected by traffic in the city center from six to nine at night. Specifically, in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Barcas, Poeta Querol, Marqués de Dos Aguas, Paz, Plaza de la Reina, Bordadors, Micalet and Plaza de la Virgen.
During the demonstration, at 8:11 p.m. – the time the mobile alert was sent to the population on October 29 – there will be a one-minute alarm followed by a minute of silence to remember the victims and “denounce institutional negligence.”
Asked if this demonstration is called by “Catalan entities”, as the PPCV assured after the first protest over the management of DANA, the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazónhas maintained that “everyone has the right to organize it” and that “when someone signs a call, then someone has signed a call.” “I understand that everyone who signs a call will be responsible for signing a call,” he added. Furthermore, he wanted to express his support for those who “in some demonstrations, some security agents have suffered injuries, because it is also worthy of recognition.”
