As part of the fact-finding investigation on cyber defense promoted by the Defense Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, ANGI – National Association of Young Innovators, a point of reference for innovation, intervened today and, through its President Gabriele Ferrieri (formerly ForbesU30), presented the report and related recommendations as a contribution from the innovators and companies of the ANGI network on the topic of defense and cyber security.
Key elements at the heart of the ANGI appeal were: strengthening sanctions for cybercrimes; optimizing resources to promote greater interoperability of systems; raising awareness and training to spread a culture of digital security; greater investment in research and development to develop new technologies and security solutions; greater international cooperation to address global cybersecurity challenges; and creating a single control room on the security of critical defense infrastructures.
During the report, data from the Cybersecurity Observatory promoted by ANGI Ricerche were also presented, to which were added extracts from the report promoted by Tinexta Cyber (among the main supporting partners of ANGI on the topic of cybersecurity), which highlighted the panorama of cyber threats with a focus on ransomware attacks, phishing campaigns and emerging malware with a clear vision of the evolving tactics of cybercriminals and the sectors most affected, including healthcare, finance and public administration.
“They thank the Defence Commission and all the honourable members, in particular the President Hon. Minardo for this opportunity to listen and analyse. – comments President Gabriele Ferrieri at the end of the hearing – As ANGI we represent a network of more than 5 thousand players in the Italian and European innovation ecosystem and the theme of innovation is one of the cornerstones of our mission, represented not only by our Innovation Cybersecurity Summit (4th ed. last April) but by a platform of experts on the topic with whom we are working to promote dialogue with the relevant institutions, including Agid and the National Cybersecurity Agency – ACN, and develop technology transfer in order to give our targeted contribution to the protection of critical infrastructures which has opened an important channel of dialogue with several members of the Defence General Staff, State Police and Presidency of the Council”. Ferrieri concludes.
