The videogame productions of Valve have become so rare as to represent real events, also because they are usually surrounded by the thickest mystery, therefore it is with a certain interest that we take these information and images on Deadlockalthough always through leaks, which should be the company’s new game, with a possible official announcement close by.
The title in question is a hero-based third-person shooter, initially known as Neon Prime and also Citadel, but later became Deadlock, apparently. Some details about it were published recently by the Twitter account “Gabe Follower”, considering it a rather reliable source regarding Valve’s projects.
Of particular interest are the images visible in the post above, which could also be removed if Valve decides to eliminate such potential evidence. These screenshots in particular, released by some testers who are experimenting with the game, would have been “verified” by the leaker in question.
A third-person shooter with heroes
Deadlock is supposed to be a competitive third-person shooter 6 against 6 centered on heroes, i.e. various characters endowed with peculiar characteristics and abilities, probably divided into various classes in order to compose teams balanced in different aspects.
The mechanics of the heroes would reportedly be closer to the universe of Dota than that of Overwatch, although there is no lack of references to the latter in the gameplay mechanics, which appears rather composite.
In addition to the peculiarity of the third-person view, Deadlock also seems to have elements from tower defense, which should introduce an additional layer of tactics to the fights. The setting should mix fantasy elements with other steampunk ones.
Tyler McVicker, another well-known Valve leaker, corroborated the issue by reporting that Deadlock is currently in the closed alpha test phase but there are already hundreds of testers who try it regularly, so the game seems to be in a rather advanced stage of development .
Even some YouTubers specializing in competitive games would have been invited to participate, but at the moment everything is under NDA so official information should not emerge at least for a while. However, theannouncement should be imminentalso because the extension of the tests would be making it difficult to maintain secrecy, so possible information could arrive shortly.
