As we recently reported, EA Motive is dedicating itself to two projects: Iron Man and support for the Battlefield saga. Among these names, a certain project is missing, never announced but desired by many players: a remake of Dead Space 2.
EA Motive is in fact the team that worked on Dead Space Remake, published in January 2023. The remake of the next chapter was never confirmed, but fans hoped so. Now, the well-known journalist and leaker Jeff Grubbsays the project has been put on the back burner.
As indicated, Dead Space 2 Remake it was in the conceptual stage or in any case in a pre-production phase, but now the game is no longer on the work list. Obviously it doesn't mean that things can't change in the future, but for the moment it doesn't seem like we can expect good news.
Update
Electronic Arts has denied Jeff Grubb's reconstructionintervening in an unprecedented way compared to what normally happens with rumors, which are usually not commented on by developers and especially by publishers.
“We usually don't comment on rumors, but this story has no basis“, declared an EA spokesperson to IGN. Of course, we will have to understand if the remake will take place or if the company wanted to underline that there have been no second thoughts based on the sales of Dead Space.
Why would Dead Space 2 Remake be “canceled”?
According to Jeff Grubb's reconstruction, which as mentioned was denied by Electronic Arts, the remake of the first chapter of the Dead Space saga would have sold too little and therefore it would not have made sense for the publisher to invest further in the franchise.
Unfortunately, poor sales are also one of the reasons why the original saga was discontinued: considering the development costs of this type of project, it sold too few units.
Finally, we leave you with our review of Dead Space Remake.
