Crunchyroll announces the imminent arrival of an animated series based on DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION. The work was originally released in Japan as an animated film divided into two parts, but for Western distribution it will become a series of 18 episodes enriched by many new scenes. The series will debut next May 24th on the streaming platform with episodes that will be released at weekly basis.

The story of two young people during the end of the world debuts in a new episodic version after the theatrical release in Japan
Rome (May 21, 2024) – Coming-of-age in a dystopian sci-fi version enriches Crunchyroll’s spring line-up DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION. After being released theatrically in two parts – Part 1 was released on March 22 and Part 2 will be released on May 24 in Japan – DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll, in more than 200 countries around the world , in a new 18-episode series that will debut on the platform fromL May 24 at 5:00 CET. The episodes will be released weekly, accompanied by new scenes not present in the film version.
Nominated for an Eisner Award in 2019 and recognized by critics in 2018 at San Diego Comic-Con as one of the Best New Manga of the year, DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION is based on the original graphic novel created by Inio Asano (Goodnight Punpun) and published by Shogakukan from 2014 to 2022 with over three million copies in circulation.

While the world is threatened by the sudden appearance of a mysterious alien spaceship, best friends Kadode Koyama and Oran “Ontan” Nakagawa continue their high school life. But as they grow up, they face existential questions, learning the complexities of adulthood and that the real threat may not come from above.
The anime is produced by Production +h. (The Orbital Children) And Tomoyuki Kurokawa, known for his work with the series PSYCHO-PASS. The composition of the series and the screenplay are by Reiko Yoshidawhose previous works include the series Violet Evergarden, Liz and the Blue Bird And A Silent Voice.
Other aspects of production worth mentioning are the world setting Of Takaaki Suzuki (Violet Evergarden series); character design and chief animation direction by Nobutake Ito (INU-OH); color design by Satoshi Takezawa (Digimon Adventure); art direction by Mika Nishimura (Typhoon Noruda); CG direction by Satoi Inami; cinematography by Takuma Morooka (Moriarty the Patriot); assembly of Masayuki Kurosawa (Laid-Back Camp series); sound direction by Takeshi Takadera ([Oshi no Ko]); and the music is composed by Taro Umebayashi (Space Dandy).
The series boasts musical performances by Lilas Ikuta (Hiro-chan in BEAUTIFUL) as Kadode Koyama and anus (Memocho in [Oshi no Ko]) as Oran Nakagawa. Lilas Ikuta is also known as ikura, author and vocalist of the well-known musical group YOASOBI, whose songs include the global phenomenon “Idol” from the anime series [Oshi no Ko]“Brave” from the anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endand “The Blessing” from the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury. The multi-talented voice-talent ano is also a well-known musical artist, whose single “Chu, Tayousei.” is part of the soundtrack of the end credits of the anime series Chainsaw Man.
The original theme song of the film “ZeZeZeZettai Seiiki” sung by ano featuring Lilas Ikuta will also be part of the television version of DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION.
