Weathers was best known for his role as boxer Rocky's opponent and later friend, Apollo Creed. Weathers starred in a total of four Rockyin the movie of the series: Rocky (1976), Rocky rematch (1979), Eye of the Tiger – Rocky III (1982) and Rocky IV (1985).
In addition to the Rocky series, Weathers starred in 1987, among others Predatorin the movie together Arnold Schwarzenegger with. Among Weathers' most recent roles was the role of Greef Karga in the 2019 premiere The Mandalorianin the television series. In all, Weathers appeared in more than 75 films or television series.
Born in New Orleans in January 1948, Weathers died in his sleep on Thursday, February 1, according to his family.
