He PRI block reyesherolist who pushed the Minister President Norma Piña Hernández to confront the constitutional process of the legal reform of Lopez Obrador failed in its strategy and the constitutional approval of the process put the highest official of the Court to its inevitable bureaucratic collapseWith the vote of six ministers, his ouster is prepared, but Piña extended the judicial strike until the October 2nd to prevent his resignation from taking place during the administration of Lopez Obrador.
With political relations that date back to when he entered the Supreme Court in 2015 as minister, Norma Pineapple Hernandez He has created around him a block of power relations in which the illustrious surnames of Reyes Heroles appear and from there he established formal connections of advisors from none other than Lorenzo Córdova Vianello, former president of the INE for the Peña Nieto-PAN alliance in 2014 and head of an opposition group also linked to the PRIAN and the defeated candidate. Xochitl Galvez Ruiz.
The point of contact with the systemic political world of the Minister Piña Hernandez was established through Natalia Reyes Heroles Scharrergranddaughter of Jesus Reyes Heroles, president of the PRI with Echeverría, Secretary of the Interior with López Portillo and Secretary of Education with Miguel de la Madrid.
Daughter of Jesús Reyes Heroles González Garza, son of the late politician and member of the PRI and PAN cabinets, Natalia Reyes Heroles Scharrer has made a career within the judicial sector: as a study and account secretary in the report of Minister Piña Hernández in 2019 and her formal position today is nothing less than general secretary of the Supreme Court of Justice, with real functions of vice president.
Among Reyes Heroles Scharrer’s political tasks has been to establish academic links with the large formal educational centers that are part of the educational block of the PRI and the old regime: the UNAM and the Colegio de México, the two in charge of shaping the PRI’s legal-constitutional thinking.
Reyes Heroles Scharrer has also brought his uncle Federico Reyes Heroles, a writer and essayist without any public office, to the office of the Chief Justice, but Federico has moved in the opposition bloc PRIAN-Xóchitl-Claudio X. González. And the Reyes Heroles family was the promoter of the clandestine activities of Chief Justice Piña Hernández in the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation to support resolutions in favor of the PRI of Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas Alito, including some dinners that have already been revealed in the media.
Chief Justice Piña Hernández has led the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation to decisions that directly confront the federal Executive Branch and now against decisions that are exclusive constitutional powers of the Legislative Branch to draft laws. The Chief Justice was the instigator of the work stoppage a month ago by workers of the Federal Judicial Branch and the structures of judges and magistrates.
Likewise, Minister Piña Hernández has made two official legal decisions to interfere in the process of drafting laws, which is the exclusive constitutional power of the legislative branch, and she did so with the purpose of first blocking the approval of the judicial reform in both chambers and then to leave in the air an argument that the opposition could not adopt to interrupt the approval of the reform.
Once the reform was approved according to the constitutional process in the Senate, it was passed to the Executive and promulgated in the Official Gazette, the Chief Justice decreed the institutional rebellion of the Court – she and her allied ministers – to not recognize a law approved in the Legislature and called the full session of the ministers of the Constitutional Court to decide whether or not it should be obeyed.
At the beginning of last week, once the judicial reform was promulgated in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the Council of the Judiciary – headed by the Chief Justice – voted by majority to lift the work stoppage, but it was noted in the official bulletin that the Chief Justice had voted against that decision. On Friday of last week, the Council of the Judiciary met again and decided to maintain the work stoppage until Wednesday, October 2, when the law began to operate constitutionally the day after its promulgation in the Official Gazette, that is, from September 16. Therefore, the vote to maintain the strike – which was obviously supported by the Chief Justice – constituted a contempt of the Court’s Chief Justice of a constitutional process.
In fact, the president minister Piña Hernández has already had to accept her defeat; in internal circles, the possibility of deposing her with 6 votes from the full cabinet is already being considered, but for that reason the president minister forced the Judicial Council to extend an illegal strike until Wednesday, October 2. Piña Hernández’s reason is obvious: defeated, she would not resign during the presidency of López Obrador and will wait for the beginning of the presidency of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
But the only thing that is certain is that Prime Minister Piña Hernández’s days at the Supreme Court are numbered.
Politics for dummies: politics is about power, not tantrums.
