The Disciplinary Commission of the Royal Spanish Football Federation has imposed a four-match ban on David López, Girona centre-back, for his statements about referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias, on October 22. The resolution of the Disciplinary Commission comes more than two months after the aforementioned events, in which David López denounced alleged insults by referee Ortiz Arias in an interview at halftime of the match between Girona and Almería. In that period of time, the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) even invited the player himself and his club to attend the federation headquarters to listen to the audios of the match and verify that the referee “at no time insulted or made a mistake.” respect” to David López. Upon receiving no response from the Catalan entity or the player, the CTA transferred what happened to the integrity department of the Spanish Football Federation, which has given rise to the recent resolution.
