The former footballer won the award for best documentary for the docu-series Beckham.
English football star David Beckham won the Emmy Award for Best Non-Fiction Documentary for the production that premiered on Netflix. “Making this series was a very private journey, a love letter to football and my family. For me and Victoria it has been an overwhelming experience to have had such a warm and positive response to the series,” said the former footballer.
In the documentary Beckhamthe businessman who is currently one of the owners of Inter Miami, shares previously unpublished images and details of his football career. The Creative Emmy ceremony was attended by director Fisher Stevens, while David Beckham learned of the award via video call.
‘I’m so grateful to the incredible team led by Fisher Stevens and also to all those people in my life and career who were involved and who have played such an important role in my story,’ said Victoria Beckham’s husband. Along with the former Spice Girls, they were nominated for five Emmys.
According to the Daily Mail, the singer is preparing her own documentary.
