Data centers are now nothing short of essential in almost every area. In case you don’t know what it is, we are talking about more or less large physical structures that various companies use to store and preserve their data and those of their users, keeping them safe. Well, such devices are also energy intensive and produce a certain amount of heat, which a British start-up decided well to recycle!
Data center: here’s how not to waste the heat produced!
Preserving and protecting the environment is one of the most important goals of many people, and apparently a start-up from Devon, England called Deep Green has found a very original way to save energy: heat a swimming pool with its own data center. Yes we’re not joking, it really happened and by recovering the heat of this small data center the size of a washing machine you can keep the water at 30 degrees Celsius 60% of the time.
It might seem like bullshit, but even if in a small way, this solution certainly allows you to help the environment, as well as obviously saving the pool structure a lot of money, theExmouth Leisure Centrewhich claims to have decreased the expenses of thousands of pounds per month:
“Collaboration has really helped us bring costs down what has been astronomical over the past 12 months – our energy and gas prices have skyrocketed, looking at ways of verses how we can save money as an organization has been great ”says pool manager Sean Day.
This has also convinced seven other English swimming pools to do the same! In short, an innovative solution that, even if it won’t save the world, can certainly start making a difference and push many others to do the same. We are certainly amazed and we hope that soon everyone can adopt this solution more sustainable!
