hbo max is about to release chapter 7 of “House of the dragon”, the spin-off television series of “Game of thrones” in which Emma D’Arcy has debuted as the adult version of Rhaenyra. So far, fans have been charmed by the actress’s performance, but what many don’t know is that she identifies as a non-binary artist; that is, she does not feel constrained to be feminine or masculine.
This topic could perhaps become somewhat confusing for his fans, since “The Dragon House” it is characterized by being a plot tied to accentuated patriarchal patterns. In this sense, the Independent portal interviewed her and this was her response.
“I was very aware – because (showrunners) Miguel (Sapochnik) and Ryan (Condal) had let me know – from very early on that it was a story built around two female characters, and that seeks to interrogate the violence inherent to patriarchy from a female perspectiveD’Arcy began.
“For me it felt like a very different starting point than ‘Game of thrones’. Plus, you know, I love talking about patriarchy, so I was like, ‘Great, I’ll do it!’” he added.
In that sense, she stressed that her gender identity was not a determining factor in her decision to bring Princess Rhaenyra to life.
“I really like playing women and I’m very good at it. My worst case scenario is that people suddenly tell me what I can and can’t interpret. I have all the necessary tools to play women. I lived as such for a long time; people still think I’m one,” she commented.
