With 1,777 units registered during the month of October, Dacia Spring triumphed by posting in the electric car segment in Italy. In general, electric power plants achieved a market share of 7% during the month just ended, reaching 4.3% since the beginning of the year; but the performance of the small electric car from Dacia has exceeded expectations, even reaching 12th place overall among the cars sold in Italy, regardless of the type of fuel. It has surpassed several sacred monsters of the market, such as Renault Clio, Volkswagen Polo and its relative Dacia Duster. But he didn’t beat Sandero (8th overall).
In general, the electric performance, certainly helped by the incentives, was good, with plug-in hybrids at 5%. The total number of cars on tap, therefore, reached 12 percent. The market is controlled by hybrids (including light hybrids), with 35.2%; followed by petrol (25.8%), diesel (18%). LPG cars still beat electric ones (7.7% in October), while CNG vehicles dropped to 1.4%. Consequently, the average CO2 emissions of new registrations drop by 12.3%, to 114.9 g / km compared to 131 g / km in the same month of 2020. In the first 10 months, emissions fell by 10.1% to 121, 3 g / Km (135 g / Km between January and October 2020).
Going into the details of the October ranking for electric, we note how the Renault Group is in splendid shape, followed by Stellantis and Volkswagen. In fact, in addition to the Dacia Spring, the Renault brand obtained 4th and 5th place with Twingo and Zoe, for a total of 873 registrations. In second place, however, there is Fiat 500, a very coveted and unique car to exceed the psychological quota of 1000 registrations (1,060) with the Spring. On the third step of the podium there is instead an old acquaintance among the electric: the Smart Fortwo (621 units).
We were talking about Stellantis: in sixth and ninth place respectively the electric Peugeots 2008 and 208; while the battery-powered Opel Corsa closed the top ten. Meanwhile, pay attention to Volkswagen’s performance, with the ID.3 surpassing the older UP! (266 registrations against 222). Fiat 500 remains at the top of the annual ranking, with a margin of 3,800 units on the Smart Fortwo. Dacia Spring, at this juncture, climbs up to fifth place overtaking Zoe and approaching Tesla, who with the Model 3 is in fourth place behind Twingo.
The speech of the plug-in hybrids, with Jeep continuing to play an important role but without dominating. In October, the Compass 4xe soared with 568 registrations, thus maintaining its annual leadership. Renegade was surpassed, in the monthly ranking, by Volvo XC40, always very popular with Italian customers. Renault Captur goes down and Peugeot 2008 goes up. But the placement of the Lynk & Co 01 model is really very interesting, with 178 registrations and eighth place in October, ahead of Mercedes GLC and Mini Countryman. New names for segments that promise to be full of surprises also in the coming months.
