Cyclists from the Colombia Potencia de la Vida Strongman team demand continuity

In recent days the members of the cycling team Colombia Power of Life Strongman are going through a difficult situation, as they were informed that the process could not continue by decision of the Ministry of Sports.

The main reason is that the teams were announced that agreement 347 was suspended, as Mindeporte warns that this entity cannot be a sponsor of any cycling team.

“They tell us that legal problems may arise and that because of this they cannot continue with the sponsorship of the women's and men's teams,” Rocío Parrado, the director of the women's group, told EL TIEMPO.

And he added: “We signed the contracts, but they tell us that they were perfecting them, since they are not signed by the Colombian Paralympic Committee (CPC)”.

Parrado warns that since April 13, the work of the teams was left in the air, it could not continue and the most complicated thing was that several people were left without work.

“I am in charge of 12 athletes and 10 more people from the support group, but today they do not have work after the decision made,” Parrado said. This Tuesday a letter was released that the cyclists addressed to Mindeporte, to the CPC, in which they explain the difficulties they are going through and request clarity about their future.

“We trust that you share our vision and will provide us with your support to ensure the continuity of this project. We want to express our concern regarding the continuity of our team. As athletes committed to the promotion of cycling in our country, we are aware of the importance of having the necessary support and backing to continue advancing and representing Colombia in competitions at the national and international level,” the communication says.

And he adds: “We ask for your intervention and support as corresponding entities so that they give us a response and take measures to ensure the continuity of the Colombia Potencia de la Vida Strongman team. Since they do not respond to us for our current contracts, signed with the CPC Paralympic committee in the month of April of this year.”
