The words of the Fdi councilor of the second Municipality of Milan against the dead cyclists rightfully enter the Pantheon of the absurd and the incredible: “For you who end up under the trucks and I’m sorry, but not so much…”, said Paolo Roccatagliata, later explaining “As you know I hate bicycles”.
This would be enough but there is more: the words were not “recorded” by the usual cell phone in a bar, under the influence of alcohol or in a joking context (such words are still unjustifiable, oh well…), but the shocking statement was made during a session of the Municipal Council.
And then, as usual, the patch is worse than the hole: hit by controversy (and numerous insults on his Facebook profile), Roccatagliata did not hold back, as even the specialized site quicicloturismo.it reports. “I was very angry..” said the Fdi councilor. “And when someone is angry… he says things he shouldn’t say. That said, cyclists are looking for it. If you take a bicycle in a city like Milan, where people travel by car for work, you know what you risk. If you then do it ‘dirty’, perhaps running a red light or going the wrong way, even more so. I see how they behave: I see that they don’t respect the rules.”
Therefore, according to Roccatagliata, cyclists do not respect the rules, “they look for it”, and with their cycle paths they take away parking spaces from exasperated motorists. This time no comments, I’ll leave the word to you. Have your say.
